LA NOSTRA STORIA
I Castelgrandesi di Montreal
25th Anniversary Book
Twenty-five years after its founding, the Associazione Maria SS. Di Costantinopoli di Castelgrande in Montreal remains an integral part of the Castelgrandese community of Montreal. Those who left the village left to be with loved ones and to pursue dreams of a better life. They made a life for themselves and their families in their adopted home, Montreal, but a part of them always remains in Castelgrande. And it’s that heartfelt attachment to their hometown that has been passed on to first, second, and even third-generation Italian-Montrealers who continue to proudly call themselves “paesani.”

My grandparents were both born [and married?] in Castegrande. There is a street in town called Via Gasparrini, and I believe there is a school named after my ancestor. I am trying to track down some of my ancestors, who I believe might live in Montréal. I believe my grandmother’s maiden name was Cerone. Can anyone help me?
Mille grazie, merci beaucoup, and thank you very much.
Hi Dan. Our Association has a Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/castelmtl. Perhaps submit a comment on our page? We will share it. Cheers.
Hi Dan, My husband is Donato Cerone. His parents Vito Cerone and Rosa D’Elia were born in Castelgrande. I documented his family tree with DNA on Ancestry.ca, FamilySearch.org and MyHeritage.org. You can also email be at Lynn.Gariepy@icloud.com.
